The Chrome extension

Alpha Shield reads the supported pages you visit to hide features you selected and filter visible YouTube recommendations. It uses page addresses, video titles, channel names and available video descriptions for those controls. This information is processed locally; the extension does not send it to our website, an advertising service or a remote AI provider.

Your platform preferences, topic lists, settings protection, focus timers and local classification results are stored in Chrome on your device. The extension uses Chrome local and session storage. It does not use Chrome Storage Sync to upload these settings to our servers.

Optional on-device AI

If you enable the experimental AI helper, supported Chrome on-device AI classifies video metadata locally. Chrome may download a model and applies its own availability requirements and privacy practices. Alpha Shield does not upload video metadata to an external model service. Filtering can be inaccurate and does not review the complete contents of a video.

Website checkout

PayPal processes payments under its privacy policy. We do not receive or store your card number in the Alpha Shield application. Our checkout server stores the PayPal order ID, capture ID, creation time and a hash of a random browser purchase proof to verify payment and provide the download.

An essential HttpOnly purchase cookie lets the same browser confirm a purchase and re-download for 30 days. Our application periodically removes purchase records older than 90 days during checkout activity. It uses a daily hash of a network address and short-lived counters to limit abuse; counters older than 24 hours are periodically removed. We do not store the raw network address in that rate-limit table.

The hosting platform, Cloudflare and PayPal may process network addresses, security cookies and operational logs under their own policies. PayPal may retain financial records independently of our application's download records.

Purchase activation

Activating the extension sends your activation code to our server over HTTPS. We store its hash, the associated PayPal capture ID, creation time and revocation status for the lifetime license. The extension stores the code, a signed activation receipt and check times locally. It periodically verifies purchase status with our server; a signed receipt permits up to 30 days offline use. Invalid, refunded or reversed purchases cannot renew access. Activation requests are rate limited using a daily hash of the network address. Video metadata and browsing history are not included in activation requests.

Use and sharing

We use information only to provide filtering, settings, payment confirmation, downloads, support and security. We do not sell user data, use it for advertising, or provide it to data brokers. Alpha Shield's use of information adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Service providers process information needed to deliver the website and payments; disclosure may also be required by law.

Your choices

You can change your filters, turn off the optional AI helper, clear extension storage or remove the extension to delete its local information. Clearing website cookies removes that browser's download proof, so save your purchased ZIP first. For purchase support or a request concerning checkout records, contact the seller through the transaction details in your PayPal receipt. This does not remove records PayPal or hosting providers are required to retain.
