Is Alpha Shield available to buy now?
Yes, as a pre-release ZIP for desktop Chrome. Install it manually using Developer Mode; a public Chrome Web Store listing is not yet available. The planned price is US$10 for lifetime access; any applicable taxes will be shown before payment.
Does it change every website?
Alpha Shield provides controls for YouTube, Instagram, X, Google Search, Facebook, and TikTok on desktop Chrome. The available controls differ by platform. It does not block desktop apps or mobile apps.
How does AI filtering work?
The optional experimental local AI classifies video titles, channels, and descriptions for personal growth topics. It needs a compatible desktop Chrome device, a model download if needed, and the Local AI helper tab kept open. It has not yet been verified with a live model across supported devices. Keyword filtering is the default and remains available without AI. Both approaches can hide relevant videos or allow unrelated ones.
How does privacy work?
The current extension stores filtering preferences locally in your browser. It does not require an Alpha Shield account or include advertising analytics. Optional experimental on-device AI filtering is separate from the default keyword filter. Purchases are processed by PayPal. Automatic downloads use an essential browser cookie and store payment references plus a hashed browser proof on our server. Short-lived hashed network identifiers limit checkout abuse. We do not store card details.
Can I still use the useful parts?
Yes. Each platform has its own settings. Choose individual features to hide instead of blocking the whole site, or start a timed whole-site focus block when you need one.
